Why should I replace the MVHR filters?

The MVHR unit controls the system, but the filters do the real (dirty) work. Large amounts of polluted air pass through the ventilation system every day, where the dust particles are collected by the filters. Over time, these filters become saturated. The result? Air purification decreases and you are no longer guaranteed healthy indoor air. Do you want to enjoy clean air permanently and carefree? Then it is advisable to change the filters on time.

How often should I replace MVHR filters?

The replacement period depends on several factors, including the intensity of use and the amount of air pollution. For example, a filter in a house in a heavily polluted area will last less time than the same filter in a house close to the nature. In general, we recommend replacing the filters at least every six months; this is the lifespan of a filter in an environment with an average amount of air pollution. Check the filters in between to determine the level of pollution.

How often should I change the MVHR filters (new construction)?

Basically, the same guidelines apply to newly built houses as to older houses, provided the work has been fully completed. Do you have a newly built house and is construction in progress in your neighbourhood? Then it is advisable to change the filters every 3 to 4 months. Due to construction, many (coarse) dust particles are released. Preferably choose a coarse filter during this period and check it between times to determine the degree of contamination.

How do I replace an MVHR filter?

Replacing a filter is easier than you might think. Although the steps may vary (slightly) from unit to unit, you should generally do the following:
Step 1: switch off the system completely by unplugging the power cord, unless the unit explicitly indicates that this is not necessary. It is unwise to remove the filters while the system is on.
Step 2: remove the covers giving access to the filters.
Step 3: remove the old filters and replace the new ones.
Step 4: replace the covers and restart the MVHR unit.
Step 5: go through the steps on your unit's screen to remove the filter notification (if applicable).

Done? Great! If not, one of our colleagues from the customer service will be happy to help you.

Where do I fit a pollen filter?

You place the pollen filter on the air supply side of the MVHR unit. This way, any pollen and other fine dust particles are filtered out of the air before being blown into the house. You can recognise the supply side by the outside symbol (e.g. cloud, tree or sky) on the unit or by the amount of dirt on the filter. The side with the dirtiest filter is the supply side.

Why do I need to change the cooker hood filter?

Cooking, baking and frying... delicious! But often also quite polluting for indoor air. Not surprisingly, hood filters become saturated with odours and other particles over time. As a result, polluted air is not only discharged worse; the cooker hood also has to work harder. And that in turn costs extra energy. Replacing the cooker hood filter on time is therefore beneficial for your health, the climate and your wallet.

The replacement time depends on several factors, including the intensity of use and the type and number of (dust) particles to be filtered. Cooking, for example, has less impact on air quality than baking or frying. In general, we can say that a cooker hood filter has an average lifespan of 6 to 9 months. Some cooker hoods give an alert when it is time to change the filters. Does your cooker hood not have this feature? Then use your senses. Do you notice, for example, that odours linger longer or that fumes continue to circulate in the kitchen? Then it's time for Tops!

To ensure optimal operation of the drain valves, we recommend replacing the cone filters at least twice a year. It is important to check the cone filters regularly, especially for accumulation of dust or a dark grey discolouration. Is this the case? Then it is time to replace the filters.

Carefully remove the drain valve from the wall or ceiling and slide the filter over the valve. Make sure the valve is replaced in the correct position, because of the adjustment of the air valve. Always check that the filter is tight before replacing the drain valve. It's that simple!

Where do I place a ventilation valve?

Most homes already have ventilation points. You usually find these in rooms with high humidity or a large number of dust particles. You can think of the toilet, the kitchen or the bathroom or bedroom. Do you want to install a new drain valve? Then place it in the most strategic location possible. This way, you ensure that polluted air is removed effectively.

How far should a ventilation valve be open?

It depends on the situation. You can adjust the air supply or exhaust by increasing or decreasing the space between the centre piece and the edge. The larger the space, the more air is supplied or removed. Do not close the valve completely; only an open valve can ventilate the space.

You can easily increase or decrease the space between the centre piece and the rim using the bolt at the back. Remove the valve, adjust it as required and replace it. It's that simple.
